Visual Album

Back in September 2016, I had this idea of making a ‘soundtrack’ before I go to New York and then I would try to post short videos on Instagram for each track. I called it a ‘visual album’…totally ripped that term out of Frank Ocean’s Endless ‘visual album’ that year.

I never got around to do it for all…not because I didnt have enough footage or anything, but because I got lazy or caught up with other things.

Came up with the track list before I went and modified it a bit while there. You can interpret the track order in different ways (moving from wide-eyed excitement to more introspective or it’s about how the nights getting longer and colder, etc).

    Instead of making video for each of the so-called ‘visual album’, I ended up just lumping the clips into a single song [Without You – Oh Wonder]

    In hindsight, I noticed that I never went to a roof and get cityview/aerial shots.

    So it’s more of a street-level/more ground-up perspective as all I literally did was spend the weekend just walking around Manhattan.

    After handing the report and buying some last minute souvenirs, I rushed to catch a ferry because I needed an ‘ending’ for the last track [Plans – Oh Wonder]

    It was the last ferry, although it didn’t dock at the statue of liberty but at least got some nice footage on the river.

    So despite not getting to do the whole tracklist, I still felt some sense of completion with this one.
