This human-Na’vi hybrid – a fully living, breathing body that resembles the Na’vi but possesses the individual human’s thoughts, feelings and personality – is known as an “avatar.”

In his new avatar form, Jake can once again walk. His mission is to interact with and infiltrate the Na’vi with the hope of enlisting their help – or at least their acquiescence – in mining the ore. A beautiful Na’vi female, Neytiri, saves Jake’s life, albeit reluctantly, because even in his avatar body, Jake represents to her the human encroachment on the Na’vi’s unspoiled world.

As Jake’s relationship with Neytiri deepens, along with his respect for the Na’vi, he faces the ultimate test as he leads an epic conflict that will decide nothing less than the fate of an entire world.

Yup, it seems like the writers of LOST are planning to give some deceased characters a last hurrah before the series ends on May 2010. So who’s gonna show up and who’s not? Here’s the rundown

Death: Season 5 Episode 17 – Incident pt 2
Sacrificing herself by hitting a hydrogen bomb repeatedly with a rock in an attempt to change the course of history. This happened after she fell down a shaft after being pulled down by a strong electromagnetic force.

Capacity of return:

• See her immediately to resolve the cliffhanger ending
• Going to be in “two tenths of the season” (20%)
• “And there’ll be some… I don’t know… you know that thing where you kind of sigh a little bit because there’s a bit of a resolution, we will have that, which is good.” – Elizabeth Mitchell

Personal theory:
She’ll be in some alternate timeline that will see her reunited with her sister.

Faraday

Death: Season 5 Episode 14 – The Variable
Idiotically went to the Others’ camp and demanded Richard, at gunpoint, to take him to his mom (young version of his mom) only to be shot by her!! Of course, the young version of his mom didn’t know she just shot his own son.

Capacity of return:

• At Comic Con, Damon and Carlton said that we will see Faraday again

Personal theory:
Either in a flashback or an alternate timeline. But I’m positively sure that he’ll show up to explain what is going on after the explosion whether it’s an alternate timeline, reset, our Losties mind jumping through time, course correction, etc

Charlie

Death: Season 3 Episode 23 – Through the Looking Glass part 3
Locked himself in a flooded room to save his friend Desmond. Before that he managed to 1) turn off the jamming signal thus enabling Jack to radio the freighter 2) contact Penny thus made it possible for her to rescue the survivors and reunite with his lover Desmond 3) warned the rest that the Freighter folks aren’t entirely who they say they are. In other words, Charlie’s sacrifice was significant.

Capacity of return:

• Three episodes

My personal theory:
I’m not sure how but I have a feeling that his return will be something big. Just look at the hints they dropped: Hurley’s carrying a guitar case given by Jacob, Sun finding Charlie’s driveshaft ring and Dominic Monaghan’s appearance at the LOST panel in Comic Con.

Charlie’s return will probably significantly drive the plot just as his death was. How? Most likely it has something to do with Claire’s and Aaron’s storyline

Claire

Disappearance: Season 4 Episode 10 – Something Nice Back Home
Claire saw his ghost daddy and followed him to the jungle leaving baby Aaron with Sawyer. Next, she was in a creepy Cabin with her dad and acting strange. Finally, she was in Kate’s dream and warning her not to bring Aaron back to the island.

Capacity of return:

• Back as a regular cast again after a one season absence

Personal Theory:
We last saw her in a cabin with her dad and that Cabin is now empty so she must be somewhere else. I think she’s in the temple or some other mysterious island location that we haven’t seen yet. Just like how Faraday served as our guide through the scientific element of the show, Claire’s story may play the same role but for the supernatural element (Jacob, MIB, Temple, etc).

Boone

Death: Season 1 Episode 20 – Do No Harm
Locke temporarily lost his ability to use his leg therefore he asked Boone to climb up a cliff and search a crashed beechcraft. Locke believed he’ll find something that can help them open the hatch…Locke was wrong. Instead Boone found some heroin and later the plane fell down the cliff and seriously injured Boone. Boone then suffered a slow painful death while being treated by Jack and his crazy ‘JackFaces’.

• unknown but he’s definitely back
• “LOST remains my best experience as an actor, and my departure was
  really traumatising for me. I don’t know in what form or shape Boone
  will be back, and I don’t care. Nothing could have pleased me more than
  to take part of the last season of the show that has brought me so

Personal Theory:
In an alternate timeline or as ghost that haunts Locke/Flocke. I think he’ll probably be in an alternate timeline (IF an alternate timeline is created after the explosion). But I’m sure whatever form he’ll return in, I don’t think he will play a big role…not as significant as Charlie. But hey it’s LOST..anything can happen…he could be the smoke monster!!

Death: Season 4 Episode 14 – There’s No place like Home Part 2
Was freezing a ticking time bomb which bought some time for the rest of the survivors to hop into the helicopter and escape the freighter before it exploded. Unfortunately, Michael was still aboard when it did.

Interest in return:
“Only if there’s some way that they’re getting back to all of those
original characters that we started the journey with, and if that’s so
then that makes sense to me. I don’t know other than that how it makes
sense.” – Harold Perrineau

Personal opinion:
If a character like Boone is back then I want Michael to be back as well. I would be satisfied if he only return as ghost or in Walt’s dream. I want one last reunion between Michael and Walt please!!

Eko

Death: Season 3 Episode 5 – Cost of Living
Eko refused to confess his sins to the ghostly vision of his brother. As a result, his ghost brother revealed his true self – A F***ing SMOKE MONSTER!! Smoke monster killed Eko.

Interest:
“Adewale is open for business. We have had talks
about some things they might do for the final season and there are
other dead folks coming back allegedly but at the moment it is still a
maybe. A strong maybe but I have not shot anything yet or signed any
contracts. But I’m hoping.” – Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje

Personal opinion:
Eko was one of the coolest character and deserves to make at least one final appearance before the show ends. My idea? Eko’s ghost scaring the living shit out of Flocke!! OR Eko’s ghost vs Smoke monster!! I want a rematch!!!

Sorry fifth season..now the fifth season of LOST has ended, what was  your overall impression of this penultimate season..am i right? It’s the penultimate..

Right, so season 5…thoughts?

I thought it was really good season overall..perhaps it’s the craziest season yet, i mean, this season, the sci fi elements that the show have hinted in the past 4 seasons just comes out full blown…you have time travel and electromagnetic pocket of energy negated by hydrogen bombs and stuff…it’s crazy. AND more amazing is that despite all these crazy sci fi stuff, you still have great character stories…most notably about Ben’s and Sawyer’s story arc… and Jack too, total transformation for that character..and Locke who’s supposedly dead

Supposedly? You see his body dumped out of the crate by Illana and the gang

Yeah but come on~ this is Locke, he’s pathetic and all but you need to redeem him

Well I think he served his purpose..a sad old man obsessed with being someone he’s not and as a result became a pawn for the mysterious Dark Man

But Jacob touched him when he fell off that building so he must be special and Locke made that drawing of him getting attacked by the black smoke monster when he was a kid..so he’s special

I was wondering about that Jacob touching the survivors in the past. What did you think about that?

I don’t know…but Jacob met them for a purpose of course and we still don’t know what that is. It reminds me of the book by Stephen King, The Stand…like two sides good and evil building up their respective army.

Wow! You liked the fourth more than the fifth season

Yeah..season 4 had a faster pace and introduced great characters like Daniel, Miles, Frank, Keamy and even Charlotte. And it has the best season finale so far too with seeing how the oceanic 6 got rescued..had that finality feeling to it.

Which is why i think between now and January next year is the best time for people to catch up on LOST, especially for those who haven’t seen it yet…because once the final season or final episode airs around May next year then everyone’s going to talk about it and it would ruin it for those new viewers.

Not really, i mean, that list is more about getting across the idea of what sort of movies that I enjoyed. For example, I put ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ there and it doesn’t mean it’s one of my all time favourites but I just enjoyed it, I responded well to it.

See, that’s the difficult thing about rating a movie..the question is whether you rate them as a ‘good/bad’ movie OR as a ‘I enjoyed it/boring’ movie. Casablanca is a good movie but I’ll probably watch Michael Bay’s The Rock more than that movie

Casablanca

actually there are a lot things in the list from Street Fighter the movie to ‘Komodo vs Cobra’

hahah that was one of those stupid movies you watch in the afternoon on Cinemax when you’ve  got nothing else to do. ‘In Her Line Of Fire’ aka “Airforce Two” is another example of those type of movies. This one is about a group of plane crash survivors, led by a badass vice president and a tough lesbian CIA agent, findng themselves in enemy territory.

But what separates a guilty pleasure movie with a genuinely bad movie?

I think a genuinely bad movie bores you or it’s just plain stupid and not in a fun way.

So if a movie doesn’t take itself seriously then it’s considered ‘good’ for you?

but it has to be enjoyable..there’s a difference between laughably bad and just plain bad

hmmm..District 9 is coming and I heard lots of good stuff about that movie..the teaser trailer blew me away probably because I didn’t expect much..i knew it was about aliens and thats it. I didn’t know about the short film it was based on nor the documentary style.

there are others like ‘Where the Wild Things Are‘..loved the book when I was a kid…one of those books that you remember picking up from the bookshelf in your Elementary school classroom or library. I also want to watch ‘500 Days of Summer‘ which seems to be a great romantic comedy

yeah but that was back when I thought the movie wasn’t going to suck!! I accepted them for hiring Chatwin and Marsters and Emmy Rossum for the movie..and Goku in Highschool plotline? sucks! but oh well it’s not gonna be a large part of the movie anyway so its ok AND THEN I saw the trailer and it sucked!! About a year ago, I made a post about my flight from Brunei to London. Well here I am again doing the same thing but this time it’s my flight BACK from London.

Note: Recalling from memory. Times are in UK time (GMT)

10.15am – Was suppose to take off at 9.40 but was delayed by some problem with air traffic control. Dozed off for about 20 minute only to wake up and realize we haven’t even taken off yet

11.30am – Above Frankfurt – Browsing through the music library that the airline provided. Aha! ABBA’s greatest hits! It’s surprising how most people, whether he/she is a fan or not, instantly recognize at least one or two ABBA song…that’s how legendary they were. Speaking of ABBA, I still haven’t seen Mama Mia!

1.48pm – woke up and ABBA’s greatest hits album just finished with the last song Holy Crap! that was a long album and I slept through half of it!

3pm – Approaching Iraq from the north – mosul – kurdistan area. This is new..flying over Iraq…I remember last year on my Dubai-london flight, we had to bypass Iraq by turning to Saudi Arabia and then over to Syria/Lebanon to get to Turkey. I guess things have changed. As we were entering Iraq I was, coincidentally, listening to ‘Rides of the Valkyries’ – Richard Wagner – surreal and Epic at the same time.

3.20pm – flying near Baghdad – listening to ‘What a wonderful world’ Louie Armstrong – too bad I didn’t get the window seat…I wanted to take a peek at Iraq.

5pm – Landed at Dubai and it was about 8pm local time

6pm – Leaving Dubai…too broke to shop there

8pm – Approaching India – Gujarat – Very tired and decided to relax a little…played some relaxing classical music – was sleeping for awhile, listening to ‘Con te partiro’…recognized the music that Will Ferrell movie ‘Blades of Glory‘ …until I woke up instantaneously because I smell food…yup hunger over overrides drowsiness

11pm – woke up and my back hurts….no music coming out of my headphone…i guess the Phil Collins greatest hits album i was listening to just finished….I couldn’t go back to sleep no matter how much I’ve tried….oh well, time to watch a movie….hmmm…no standouts from the list…The International with Clive Owen? heard it’s good but not in a mood for heady stuff….12 Rounds? it’s a JOHN CENA MOVIE!! probably too mindless….I decided with  ‘Taken’ starring Liam Neeson.

Liam plays an ex-super agent badass who’s now retired and having problems with his ex-wife. The movie started with Liam buying a karaoke set for his 17 year old daughter, played by Lost’s Maggie Grace who’s not really 17. Initially she’s overjoyed that her dad bought her a karaoke set (acting all jumpy and annoying like a stereotypical 17 year old) until her rich step dad (played by that guy from 24) comes in and bought a better present….a brand new car? nope..a FREAKIN HORSE!!! by that time, I didn’t know whether this was a really really bad movie or a work of genius

Of course I forgot about all the bad acting and lame dialogue when Maggie got kidnapped in France and it’s up to Liam to save the day. The rest of the film is all about Liam being Jason Bourne and killing everyone that gets in waw between him and his daughter. And that fact alone made it worthwhile.

1pm – Above Cambodia – listening to ‘Fortunate son’ Creedence Clearwater Revival – how appropriate…btw the music was randomly selected

2pm/9am Brunei time – Touchdown in Brunei…good to be home….wait…what’s this? a black van appeared out nowhere at the airport parking…three masked men rushed out..put a bag over my head and took me to an unknown location…WTF?!

Congratz to ‘Slumdog Millionaire‘ for the winning 8 oscars including Best Picture and Best Director.

I was betting on it to win big in this year’s oscars….actually, it’s the only movie among the best picture nominees that i’ve seen . I watched the early part of the live telecast (I fell asleep…it was about 2-3am in UK) and even from the first few minutes, I knew that this was going to be a special Oscar night. Here are some of favourite oscar moments:

Hugh Jackman’s opening number:

Hugh Jackman has natural charisma as host and that opening number was hilarious!! From ‘the Dark Knight not getting a nomination’ joke to his duet with Anne Hathaway.

Too many ideas
Make that too many ideas that go nowhere. Usually I have an idea for a post and start writing but quickly got bored of it.

LOST
‘Lost’ is back in its fifth season!! and that means going back to my routine of spending 50% of my internet time with things related to LOST. The six episodes have been aired so far were amazing.

Facebook
yup…I’m in Facebook. Just started few months ago when my friends forced me to open an account. Hey you know what? maybe I should make a post about Facebook…

Lazyness
Perhaps the underlying reason for the lack of posts. Hell, you can even cross out all the other reasons mentioned above.

Was supposed to post this around the end of December but got sidetracked with other things. Well here it is now, my top ten movies that I’ve seen in 2008. You have two movies starring Robert Downey Jr., two superhero movies, two animated movies and three movies starring our old beloved heroes:

10. Tropic Thunder

I enjoyed:

• The over the topness quality of the action scenes (eg.the opening scene, the end scenes, all the explosions)
• the hollywood satire
• Robert Downey Jr.
• TOM CRUISE!!

9. JCVD

A movie with a thin plot: a washed up star gets into a hostage situation and gets wrongly accused of robbing a bank. What made this movie special is that it’s not some guy playing a washed up actor, it’s JEAN CLAUDE VAN DAMME, a washed up star himself. The movie is fictional yet it touches upon real facts about Van Damme (eg. drug addiction, child custody, rivalry with Steven Seagal, his recent work on ‘Direct to video’ movies). The ending was the biggest surprise for me. It’s not quite a happy ending yet not a sad one either.

8. Rambo

While Jean Claude Van Damme is reinventing his on screen image with JCVD, Stallone is reintroducing one of his iconic characters to the new generation. ‘Rambo’ doesn’t follow the usual 3 Act formula and instead it’s a one constant build up that ended with an explosive finale. Stallone, bring on ‘The Expendables‘!!

7. Iron Man

Iron Man aka “How Marvel movies got her groove back”. You have a hero who’s cool, crazy rich, a playa, drives cool cars, wears an indestructible armour, can fly, can blow things up, hook up with Gwyneth Paltrow and go toe to toe with Jeff Bridges (who looks badass in this movie). Add to the fact that this hero is played by the talented Robert Downey Jr. and you have a winner

6. Wanted

F***ing ridiculous but I love it. You have curving bullets, crazy car chase, violence, John Woo/Matrix style gun ballet and Angelina Jolie.

I liked the twist in the middle too which saved the story from being the typical “I’m the chosen one and must avenge my father” angle.

5. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull

I loved it. That’s right, I enjoyed this movie. On my second viewing, the parts that I did have a problem with were still problematic for me (CGI beaver, Indy inside the fridge to save himself from nuclear explosion, etc) but I enjoyed the rest.  I didn’t have a problem with the aliens which wasn’t much of a surprise for those who have been following the development of the 4th installment of Indiana Jones (you thought that was ridiculous for an Indiana Jones movie?? Come on, we had a box with mysterious powers that melts Nazis, an Indian cult group that takes out the hearts of children and a sacred cup in which you get immortality if you drink from it). Overall,  it was a fun adventure movie.

4. Hellboy II: The Golden Army

Highly entertaining movie. It’s funny, frightening and action packed. I cared about the characters and I even kinda felt sorry for the main villain too. The main highlight of the movie for me are the creature designs; from evil little “tooth fairies” to giant plant monster, the ectoplasmic german guy to the angel of death (my favourite). The audience were in awe whenever some new creature shows up and it proves that the director have limitless imagination. Del Toro, bring on ‘The Hobbit‘!

3. Wall E

Wall E is a preachy movie with an environmental message like ‘Happy Feet’. But its brilliance lies with the way it kept the central focus of the story on the main characters instead of the message itself. The first part of movie where you follow Wall E’s daily life and his unrequited love for Eve is sweet and adorable. Best Pixar movie since Finding Nemo.

2. Kung Fu Panda

Wall E is epic but Kung Fu Panda is just pure fun. I’ve lost count on how many times I’ve seen this movie but I’m still not bored with it. Introducing the classic Kung Fu story formula (clumsy guy trained into a Kung Fu master and save the village) to a younger generation through an animated feature is a smart move. You add a loveable Panda (the national animal of China aside from dragon) as the hero, hire a wide range of actors to do the voices (Comedians like Jack Black & Seth Rogen to superstars like Angelina Jolie & Jackie Chan and a Hollywood veteran, Dustin Hoffman) add some action and sprinkle it with humour and what you get is a work of genius Haha

1. The Dark Knight

You must be tired of how this movie is on everyones top list but seriously, it is a really good movie. A psychological and sociological study that touches on themes of anarchy, heroism, law & order under the disguise of a summer popcorn superhero movie.

The Dark Knight is not just a Superhero movie, it’s a two and a half hours long epic crime drama that touches on themes like law & order, the price of heroism and what people can do when their comfort zone get disturbed…The movie is about Gotham City and the efforts of three men (Batman, Jim Gordon and Harvey Dent) in saving it from the Joker, the self proclaimed agent of Chaos.
