Unrated edition

Posted by trylobyte on June 26, 2008

I just found this site where you can find out the rating of your blog (R, Pg-13 or G). I decided to test it out and got this:

OnePlusYou Quizzes and Widgets

OnePlusYou Quizzes and Widgets

Haha!! And how did I get the rating? According to the site, I wrote (well at least on the first page of this blog):

  • shit (4x)
  • ass (3x)
  • dick (2x)
  • crap (1x)
  • ROFL!! OK~  What can I say..I guess that’s how I talk and it makes me laugh that the test gave me a R Rating for words like ‘Shit’ and ‘Crap‘. Yeah, those words are inappropriate, I agree but it’s not bad as ‘F***‘. See, I always censor the F word in my blog. I know some people don’t apply any type of levels for these words and for them Shit and F*** are treated equally (as inthey’re all bad words, not one is more worse than the other!”).

You know what, I want to talk about offensive/inappropriate language. Not going to be a balanced essay type of thing showcasing the bright side and downside of such language. No no no, screw that! If you want to read those type of stuff, you can find it elsewhere. This is just my random thoughts on personal experience with using this type of language.

Click more for the rest of the post. Some people might not want to read stuff filled with swear words so I hid it. At least it’s not password protected (Pfft~ password protected post~ I hate those things. Why bother posting if you don’t want to share it).

    Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon?

Posted by trylobyte on June 21, 2008

OK, I’ve just wasted my time with this game called “Six degrees of Kevin Bacon”. It’s a game where you try to connect an actor/actress to Kevin Bacon (Tremors, Hollow Man, Death Sentence, etc). It was conceived during the early 90s but I just found out about it LOL

    Here’s a good start: http://oracleofbacon.org/index.html

Type any actors you know and you’ll be surprised at how they are connected to Kevin Bacon. I tried to look up for any actors that I think wouldn’t be connected to Kevin Bacon but I was wrong, almost every actor is connected to him in various degrees. Here are some examples that I tried:

    Charles Chaplin

Charles Chaplin has a Bacon number of 3.

Charles Chaplin was in Picture People No. 3: Hobbies of the Stars (1941) with John Beal (I)

Charles Q Murphy (Eddie Murphy’s brother)

Om Puri was in Wolf (1994) with Michael Raynor
Michael Raynor was in Rails & Ties (2007) with Kevin Bacon

Peter O’Brian (lead actor of the notorious B-action Rambo rip off movie, The Intruder)

Peter O’Brian (III) has a Bacon number of 3.

Peter O’Brian (III) was in Angel of Fury (1992) with Cynthia Rothrock
Cynthia Rothrock was in Eye for an Eye (1996) with Keith David (I)

    RIP Stan Winston

Posted by trylobyte on June 17, 2008

Special Effects master, Stan Winston passed away after “a seven year struggle with multiple Myeloma“. You may have never heard of him before but you probably have seen many of his work. Remember that T-Rex that chased Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park? Or that indestructible metallic skeleton of the Terminator? None of those would be possible without this man, the legendary Stan Winston.

The thing about most of his special effects is that they never get old. Just watch movies like Jurassic Park or Terminator 2 and you will be surprised that the effects are still good. And those movies were made more than ten years ago!!

Click ‘more’ to see videos of his work. Put most modern Hollywood CGIs to shame.

    Go see Tropic Thunder..With a..Panda…

Posted by trylobyte on June 9, 2008

Tropic Thunder is one of the movies that I’m really looking forward to this year. I’ve talked about the movie before but since then I’ve seen the hilarious R rated trailer of the movie, watched Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark in Iron Man (this year’s best superhero movie…till Dark Knight comes out LOL), heard many good reviews for Kung Fu Panda (I have yet to see it but I liked the trailer) and read a good early review of Tropic Thunder itself; I’m really hyped up about this movie.

Then you add this ‘viral video’ to the list and you simply just can’t wait till August :-p

“It’ll do..until Dark Knight comes out then you’re screwed”

Tropic Thunder is about three actors (an action star, a comedian & an Oscar winning actor played by Ben Stiller, Jack Black & Robert Downey Jr respectively) shooting a big budget Vietnam War movie. When the director gets fed up and left them, they end up in a middle of a real war while still thinking that they are still in a movie set. Oh and Robert’s character is a white actor who underwent a surgery to become black LOL. Watch the trailer below

    Release Date: 15 August 2008

    Resident Evil 5

Posted by trylobyte on June 6, 2008

New trailer for Resident Evil 5

The story is set in 2008 (that’s ten years after events in Racoon City, five years after the downfall of Umbrella and four years after Leon’s adventure in RE4…I think I got the timeline right). Chris Redfield, the protagonist of the original game and last seen battling zombies in Siberia, is now working for a new Biohazard containment group and is on a mission in Africa to investigate a viral outbreak.

Few random thoughts on the plot:

    -  Chris Redfield is the hero so expect his archenemy Albert Wesker to show up.

    - We saw a glimpse of a blond female characterin the earlier trailer and on the magazine scans. A lot of people speculate that it is Sherry Birkin (the daughter of William, the mad scientist who was partly responsible for the outbreak in Racoon City..long story). I also think its Sherry Birkin and also believed that it would be stupid on the part of the game creator if it doesn’t turned to be her. Unlike characters like Rebecca or Carlos, Sherry’s story needs some closure. We last heard about her being taken custody by a man from the military (under a deal made by Leon - kinda sucks that we didn’t get to know more about this deal in RE4). I hope she isn’t a new character.

    - Speaking of a new character, Chris will team up with a new female character rumored to be named Sheva. I hope she’s playable in the game.

    - The game creator said that this game will delve into the origin of the virus. This makes sense considering how the ’Mother Virus’ (all the viruses featured in the series  originated from this one) was discovered in Africa. According to the game’s mythology, the virus was discovered by three men: Ashford, Dr. Marcus and Ozwell Spencer. Only Spencer is still alive and haven’t been seen in any of the RE games (only mentioned). So I hope we’ll finally be able to see him in this one.

    - The enemies? They certainly don’t look like those familiar slow walking zombies. Infected with mind controlling parasites like in RE4? I think it will be a combination of a virus (due to the plot point mentioned above) and a parasite (they behave like the enemies in RE4).

Resident Evil 5 to be released around 2009 for PS3 and Xbox360 (no Wii…yet)
